Alert 1010
Server Data Drive % Free
Alert 1010 is a SQL host alert and is triggered when dbOmnibus detects a drive on the server that is low on available space.
It is recommended to investigate ways to free space on the drive.
Things to look for:
- Files in the Recycle bin
- Files in downloads folder and other catchall locations.
- Excess / large log files
- Memory dump files
- Large tempdb files
- Large database log files with a lot of unused space reserved
- Files that can be moved to other drives
If everything on the drive is needed there, then it may be necessary to add space to the drive or add another drive to the host. If it is a physical drive, options are limited. However, if the drive is a virtual drive on a SAN or other advance technology, it should be fairly simple to have someone on the infrastructure team increase the drive size.
The default evaluated free space thresholds are:
- 20% - Warning
- 15% - Concerning
- 5% - Critical
This alert can be overridden.
